Iowa Rush Announces 2013 Signing Class on National Signing Day
Three Iowa Rush players have signed a National Letter of Intent (NLI) to continue their soccer playing career next year in college. Check out more info on each player below!
Mary Brandt, University of Northern Iowa
Mary has signed to play at NCAA Division 1 soccer program UNI. Mary currently plays for the u18 Iowa Rush Nike girls team coached by Daryl Brazeau. According to Brandt, she chose UNI because the school had a lot to offer and she could see herself as being a part of the team there when she visited. She is looking forward to playing for UNI Head Coach James Price, saying "I really like what he is doing to help the soccer program grow and get better." Her college recruiting process included many college showcase events and Regionals last summer which helped her get seen by many coaches. Mary said, "I am looking forward to the opportunity to continue with my soccer career and compete again other Division 1 schools. I can't wait to experience all the new things that will be coming my way."
C.J. Culligan, Simpson College
C.J. has signed to play at Simpson College, a NCAA Division 3 soccer program. C.J. currently plays for the U18 Iowa Rush Nike boys team coached by Matt Dryer. C.J. originally hadn't thought about playing soccer in college but with the help of Iowa Rush staff member Brian Duax and the Simpson College Head Coach Rick Isaacson, he will get to continue his career next year. He chose Simpson after visiting this fall, talking with professors on campus and learning more about his intended major- Computer Science. C.J. said, "I'm looking forward to going to college and the opprortunity I have to be apart of the college soccer team at Simpson."
Amber Nieland, University of Northern Iowa
Amber has signed to play at NCAA Division 1 soccer program, University of Northern Iowa. She joins Iowa Rush teammate, Mary Brandt, in UNI's 2013 signing class! Amber currently plays for the u18 Iowa Rush Nike girls team coached by Daryl Brazeau. Amber found the recruiting process pretty easy- "I knew I wanted to go to UNI and was lucky that Coach Price wanted me on his team." She visited UNI and was impressed by the soccer program, facilities and school, while visiting Amber thought "I can see myself playing here." Amber will have the opportunity to play with current Iowa Rush teammate Brandt, and former Iowa Rush teammates as well at UNI. She said, "I am looking forward to the experience of playing soccer at the next level."
