How we play - how we train


Provides a quality environment for players to grow in their understanding of the game of soccer.  Through quality instruction, improved methodology, and effective communication, a solid foundation is established for children to continue progressing in the sport.

Overview

Training

  • Consists of two team training opportunities and an additional bonus session each week. Teams are formed by the Academy Director prior to the season.

Games

  • 7v7 games on the weekend. First programming level in which teams compete against other clubs in the surrounding area.


  • Sessions and weekend games are overseen by the Academy Director with assistance coming from parent volunteer coaches and other members of the Iowa Rush coaching staff.

Goals of the Academy Program

  • Players have fun learning to play the game.


  • Players improve their ability to move and manipulate the ball.


  • Players are motivated by their improvement to stay involved in the game


  • Parents become advocates for our development philosophy and help create a quality “player-centered” environment.



  • Coaches are in an environment which provides an opportunity to grow and more effectively promote our player development philosophies.

Who is this for?

  • Children who have been involved in organized soccer for at least one season (For example: 7U-8U Rush Soccer, Ankeny Parks and Rec, etc.)


  • Players who are consistently engaged within the training and game environments.


  • Children interested in learning to play the game of soccer.


  • Players looking to improve by learning how to train.


  • Players who may consider Select soccer or High-School soccer in the future.
